First Sunday: Embracing White in All Its Purity

Growing up in a Black church, the first Sunday of the month held special significance. We wore white to partake in Holy Communion or The Lord’s Supper, symbolizing cleanliness and purity. This tradition wasn’t just about the attire but an outward expression of our belief in the cleansing power of Jesus. Wearing white didn’t mean we were inherently clean or pure, but it acknowledged our acceptance of His sacrifice on the cross. As Ephesians 5:26 reminds us, Christ gave His life for the church to sanctify it with the washing of water by His word.
As a plus-size person, I’ve often shied away from wearing white, especially on my bottom half. The fear of standing out or highlighting parts of myself I felt insecure about kept me from embracing this color. But now, I’m on a journey to love the skin I’m in, which means embracing all colors, including white.
I’ve curated a collection of white attire worthy of Sunday Best. These pieces are designed to help you feel confident and beautiful, regardless of size.
