Wearing Vs. Styling for a More Confident Look

There was a time when I was perfectly content with my shirt untucked, and I only owned one reversible black and brown belt, which I wore only with jeans to prevent the dreaded butt gap. I thought tucking in your shirt was only for skinny girls. As a matter of fact, I preferred tunic-style shirts because they were long enough to cover not only my apron belly but also my hips, butt, and the upper part of my thighs. The bigger and looser my garments fit, the more comfortable I felt.

Unfortunately, comfort does not equal confidence. On the contrary, my baggy, ill-fitting clothing was a clear indicator that I lacked confidence as I attempted to shield my plus-size body from the world. Thanks to social media sources such as YouTube and Pinterest, I began to see other plus-size content creators showcasing their curves with well-tailored looks. Inspired by influencers like Stylish Curves and Head to Curve, I decided to step up my fashion game.

Here are some suggestions I implemented to enhance my style:

-Tuck in your shirt: This helps to lengthen your legs and create a cleaner silhouette.

- Add a belt: A belt clearly defines the waistline, adding structure and style.

- Add a jacket or blazer: A blazer can lengthen the torso and achieve a balanced look.

- Consider longer pants: Switching from capri length to full-length pants can give the illusion of longer, leaner legs.

This transformation has taught me that styling, not just wearing clothes, can make a world of difference in how I present myself to the world and how confident I feel. It's about finding the right balance and embracing my curves with confidence.
